Transforming Abeer Medical Group

Abeer group is a pioneer in healthcare in the middle east, with millions of patient footfall every month yielding multi-million dollars in monthly revenue. The entities are spread across 5 countries and 22 business generating locations in the GCC with complex segregations of revenues and accountability. Hence, data posed intricacies requiring a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning system and devising and implementing a framework to handle the data volume and the business requirements.

The entire group now runs on the enterprise resource framework provided by Calmove under the brand CMED Suite, consisting of much more than a hospital management system (HMS). As a result, Abeer KSA secured the JCI certification, a revered accreditation in the healthcare sector, for its streamlined processes, medical practices and data management. Further, it also got accredited by IFRS foundation for gold standards in accounting data.

Calmove transformed Abeer’s business by integrating IT infrastructure, automation and data-driven decision-making. The change was made possible due to a comprehensive and 360° strategic implementation using the ERP application (CMED suite), business transformational planning and execution acumen and handling of massive data corpus (acquisition, assessment, digitization, coding, migration and integration).

The process involved:

  • Auditing existing and planning IT infrastructure revamp
  • Assimilating classified data
  • Preparing and encoding massive corpus of data for migration
  • Standardized medical coding and EMR data
  • Continuous pain point evaluations
  • Defining design and UX accentuating the pain points and business needs
  • Identifying and prioritizing workflows for minimal wastage (LEAN)
  • Ensuring unhindered migrations in hybrid (legacy paper-filing and digital) operations
  • DEVOPS centric continuous integration
  • Integrating healthcare machinery into system for real-time data acquisition and reporting

This also required us to propose and implement some paradigm changes like redefining its business model with “Asset as profit centers” concept and its revenue model with leveraged revenue-centric-entity management. In Abeer, its healthcare arm diagnostic centers, branch hospitals, optical clinics, other clinics, pharmacies, central warehouse, the corporate office and Abeer group’s other business establishment might be physically, coexistent entities, but entirely different entities. The same has created severe inconsistencies, especially in business communication among them.

Calmove strategized, planned, proposed and implemented,

  • a country-segregated presentation for the web, facilitating users to find their respective regional entities easily,
  • a segregated privileged services access for the management group, employees, and patients, presented in an illustrative functional dashboard format,
  • a mobile application and a video consultation service for public access.
  • a datacenter to handle inter-entity and inter-department communication, and real-time update of the data,
  • pushing labelled data to the cloud for public access with resilient information security.
